CORE EXERCISE: CRUNCH, SIDE LYING, LATERAL CRUNCH TO SHOULDER
INSTRUCTIONS: With a treat or toy lure the dog into a lateral recumbent position; reward. Hold the bottom thoracic limb. With the treat or toy lure the dog to laterally crunch to the shoulder.
MANUAL TREATMENT: TRACTION THORACOLUMBAR SPINE
INSTRUCTIONS: With the dog in a comfortable lateral recumbent position, with one hand stabilize the mid thoracic spine. Place the other hand on the lumbar spine. Following the line of the back, very slowly and gently apply traction. Indicated for the relief of low back pain. Contraindicated for acute disc injury or post-operative spine surgery.
EXERCISE BAND STRENGTHENING: THORACIC LIMB ABDUCTORS ISOMETRIC CONTRACTION
INSTRUCTIONS: With the dog in a square standing position, wrap the exercise band around the lateral limb. While the dog remains in a square standing position, pull the exercise medially, strengthening the muscles on the lateral limb. Indicated for post-operative shoulder surgery, limb strengthening in a prosthetic or orthotic and weakness secondary to other muscle or joint diseases of the shoulder.
AROM: CERVICAL SPINE ROTATION LEFT IN SITTING
INSTRUCTIONS: With the dog in a comfortable sitting position, using a treat or toy lure their muzzle downward and counter clockwise, actively rotating the cervical spine.
